Video Equipment

Now that we are all working from home, how do we stay connected? Open houses, networking events, in-person client meetings – who knows how long it will be before those are back. So in the meantime, get comfortable on camera if you want to compete and stay connected.

Video is the arena and it is time to suit up.

I am going to list some items you can order to help you get started in making you own little at home studio. I am expert at this, I started Vonk Digital in my garage in 2011 using storage bins and a piece of wood as a desk. So I had to be creative.

There may be cheaper options out there but here is what I either use for myself, or plan on getting. *These are not affiliate links.

Tripods:

Sunpark Ultra 7000
Vastar Universal Mount – Cellphone holder for Tripod

*protip – always hold your phone horizontal when filming!

Lights:

Fovitec Lights with Stands (gotta have lights)

Editing:

PitchHub – Done-for-You
Adobe Premier Elements – Do-It-Yourself – Available on Mac and PC (I use Final Cut Pro X which is mac only I believe)

Microphones:

Nobody likes crappy audio. Here a few options for different applications.

Smartmike+ – Bluetooth Mic (cool idea, i have never personally used one)
RODE VideoMic ME-L – iOS shotgun Mic for IPHONE ONLY (I just bought this as I was writing this)
Blue Yeti – Desk Mic with stand – (I personally have RODE mic for this, completely unnecessary quality for most use, also does not have stand included)

Hosting:

VimeoPro – This great for analytics and it is easy to make private share links. You can also add a custom logo to your video player. Great tool for a great price.
YouTube  – You need a Channel for your “public videos” This is something everyone should have already.

I co-founded Vonk Digital in 2011 after helping my brother and his business partners build a web presence for their small mortgage brokerage. After realizing this was something I really enjoyed doing I was fortunate enough to take this venture on full time and we have been growing ever since!
