“Does blogging still work?” I hear it on demo calls all the time. Last week a lead answered it for me, and they didn’t even know it.

Short answer: yes. On October 13, 2026, a mortgage company booked a demo with Vonk Digital from a blog post we published on March 21, 2016. That is 3,858 days between publish date and lead. Ads stop when you stop paying. Social posts disappear in days. A page on your website keeps getting found for years, by people and by AI engines.

How did a 2016 blog post book a demo in 2026?

Every demo request on our site records the page the visitor came from. Usually I recognize it. This time I didn’t.

The page was Mobile Friendly Online Mortgage Application. Vinnie Balsamo, my brother and Vonk co-founder, wrote it in 2016. That was four years before I committed full time to Vonk.

Lead came from this article on 10/13/2026 (likely from a Google search as it’s rare someone would go that far back in a blog manually)

Article was posted 03/21/2106.

The post covers an upgrade to our mortgage application that was a big deal at the time. A mobile friendly application is table stakes now. It didn’t matter. Someone found the page, read it, and asked to talk.

It’s not the first time a page did the selling before the call. A broker once asked Microsoft Copilot about us before booking. The research happens whether you’re part of it or not.

Why does website content compound when other marketing doesn’t?

We promote Vonk a lot of ways. Paid ads, email, LinkedIn, podcasts, events. Some work great. Some are good add-ons. Some fall flat.

All of them should work together. But they don’t all age the same way.

Channel How long it keeps working What happens when you stop
Paid ads As long as you’re paying Visibility ends the same day
Social posts A day or two in the feed You start from zero next week
Email The day it lands The list stays, the message doesn’t
Website content Years. Our record so far is 3,858 days. Every page you published keeps working

Every new page adds to the pile. One more page Google can rank. One more answer ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity can cite. One more piece of proof a prospect finds when they look you up.

No single page has to carry the load. The library does.

To be clear, most of our leads don’t come from 10 year old pages. That’s the point. Publishing on our own site has been the backbone of Vonk’s marketing since day one, and everything else we do sits on top of it.

What does this mean for loan officers?

Your borrowers and referral partners look you up before they call. We call that moment the Point of Research®.

What do they find? A library of real answers in your voice, or a one-page site with a headshot and an Apply Now button?

AI search raises the stakes. Tools like ChatGPT and Google’s AI answers can only recommend and cite pages that exist. If you never published it, you can’t be cited for it.

The page you publish this month is still on the clock in 2036. The page you never publish isn’t working at all.

Why don’t more loan officers do it?

Nobody doubts that content works. The problem is doing it every week, for years, while also originating loans.

Your coach can tell you to blog. Writing three posts a week between closings is a different job. That’s homework, and homework doesn’t get done.

Should you be doing this part yourself? Take the 2-minute quiz. Some of the answers tell you to do it yourself.

What if someone did it for you?

That’s why we built the Vonk Authority Plan. Our mantra is short: no new homework.

  • Three custom blog posts a week on your site, in your voice
  • Local market pages and loan program pages with real specifics
  • Everything structured and dated so Google and AI engines can find and cite it
  • Vonk Insights shows AI crawler activity and your top-cited pages

Setup takes about 20 minutes. After that, you keep originating and your library keeps compounding.

See how it works: read the overview, watch the short video, and book a call with me right from the page.

Frequently asked questions

Does blogging still work for loan officers?
Yes. A Vonk Digital blog post published in 2016 generated a demo request in 2026, 3,858 days later. Website content keeps getting found long after paid ads and social posts stop.

How long does a blog post keep generating leads?
For years, if the page stays live and the topic stays relevant. Our 2016 post produced a lead more than 10 years after it was published.

Can AI tools like ChatGPT cite a loan officer’s website?
Yes, if the content exists, is crawlable, and clearly answers a question. AI engines favor specific, dated, original content written from real experience.

How often should a loan officer publish?
Consistency beats volume. One post a week for two years beats five a week for two months. Vonk’s Authority Plan publishes three custom posts per week so the library grows without the loan officer writing them.

Anthony Balsamo, Co-Founder, VonkDigital.com | Goalee.io. Pro model websites and mortgage calculators for the mortgage industry. Vonk Digital has built websites for mortgage professionals since 2011.

Anthony Balsamo is the co-founder of Vonk Digital, a website and marketing platform for mortgage professionals. He's a business owner with two decades of hands-on experience building and marketing companies. First his own mortgage company, now a software company and agency serving loan officers, brokers, and lenders across the US. He writes from the operator's seat, not the sidelines.

Anthony spent the last 20 years in the mortgage industry. In 2006 he co-founded a four-person brokerage and grew it into a multi-state lender that made the Inc. 500 and Inc. 5000 lists, was named the San Diego Business Journal's #1 Fastest-Growing Company, and earned a spot on Entrepreneur Magazine's Entrepreneur 360 list of the most entrepreneurial companies in the country. After selling the company in 2018, he stayed on for over a year to help merge the two organizations.

His focus is how mortgage professionals actually generate business, combining online and real-world strategy across websites, paid ads, email, retargeting, content, SEO, and increasingly AI search.

Vonk provides one part of that picture; but Anthony writes and practices the whole process, from a deliberately skeptical, evidence-first point of view shaped by watching every platform shift, and the recycled "certainty" sold with each one, since 2006.
