UPDATE: Here is a holiday ad we launched last year. It's that time of year…

Want a video background on your homepage? This can be a great way to #differentiate you or your mortgage company.
Q: “Can I use a video background from a video we made?”
A: Yes. The more personal the better for branding.
A video background can definitely bring your website to life. It can also make your homepage worse if it is not executed properly. Here are some do’s and don’ts.
Don’ts:
- Do not use a video with a lot of motion. If your video has a fast moving background, such as a drone flyover or the feeling of someone walking, it can make the viewer dizzy. It also makes it hard to read any text you may have.
- Do not host the video on your site. This will make your load speed very poor.
- Do not have a ton of color change. If you have text over the video, try and avoid a video that is bright one second and dark another. This can make text hard to read. The only solution would be to use a color overlay to soften that.
Do’s:
- Host the video on Youtube. This will save loading time.
- Find videos with a still background or with slow motion movement.
